Global 3D – Day #1 – RESULTS
After 2 years away, the worlds most prestigious RC Helicopter Competition is BACK! Global 3D 2022!
Day 1 was met with near perfect weather and was full of great competition flights. As always, on the first day of the competition it is the “Set Maneuvers Day”
Each pilot chooses in advance his set maneuvers which range in difficulty and “K factor”. The harder the move, the higher the K factor multiplier which means the more points you get.
While not as entertaining as the music and freestyle flights, this is one of the most integral part of competition flying, which really separates a good pilot, from a “World Champion” pilot. The ability to do ultra complex maneuvers under a microscope with a panel of judges looking for any fault, dissymmetry, height change, or change of speed. A true test of skill.
Above is an example of one of the new set maneuvers for 2022. Rolling Rainbow Crown

Scorpion Power System is proud to sponsor the video coverage of this event! Pascal Richter is on site filming every flight! So you will be able to see all the action!
Also if you are planning to attend the event, be sure to stop by our German Distributor World of Heli who is helping us to man our Scorpion booth this year, as we are unable to attend in person due to travel restrictions. They are showcasing some of our new products such as the HKII-4225-550kv motor!
Both classes flew today with 10 pilots in the Masters Class, and 21 pilots in the Advance Class. The results of the days competition are below!
MASTER CLASS RESULTS – DAY #1
Congratulations to all pilots and especially our Scorpion Team Pilots! Way to go Sakarin Kongthon (2nd), Vava Boonmala (4th), Marik Wiehenstroth (5th), Nick Maxwell (6th) and Mariano Suarez (7th) for your current placing in Masters Class

If you don’t know how to use Tribunus ESC with Futaba Telemetry, come read this!!
Since the first development of the Scorpion Tribunus ESC series, we had telemetry integration as a key feature in mind. In the past few years, we collaborated with Mikado VBC/VBCT and JETI to bring key Tribunus ESC telemetry data to user’s radios.
Since then, we have received many customers around the world asking Tribunus ESC telemetry on Futaba radio. We’ve heard you! And Tribunus telemetry integration with Futaba radio is here! Now, for new Futaba radio models, Tribunus telemetry is integrated. For models of Futaba that supports Tribunus telemetry, please feel free to contract us or your Futaba dealers near you.

The Return of the Tribunus 06-80A – New and Improved!
The Tribunus 06-80A originally came out in 2018 and it was one of the smallest, and most compact 6 cell, 80amp ESC’s on the market. This ESC was great for many small 380-420 size helis, and 50-60″ aerobatic airplanes.
However, some people reported that they did not have good experiences with this ESC because they had issues with the BEC.
After much research, Scorpion found that this was due to a factor which they did not anticipate. Some HV servos on the market, produced MASSIVE amounts of Back Voltage while operating (over 10 volts!), and this would set off the protection limits of the 06-80A BEC. This issue could be helped by adding capacitors in line to the BEC, however there was never an elegant solution for this ESC when being used with such servos that produced so much back voltage.
Due to the challenges presented with these difficult servos, Scorpion stopped production of the 06-80A ESC and it has been off the market for more than a year now.
***HOWEVER, we are pleased to announce the Return of the New and Improved Tribunus 06-80 ESC!! ***
This ESC is now on the market again, only now Scorpion has super charged the BEC! The ESC has the same small and compact footprint, and power capabilities. The only difference now is that Scorpion has changed the BEC to one which can work better with the current servos on the market! This change unlocks many more applications for this ESC as it can handle a much wider spectrum of mini / micro servos now. We have been testing this ESC with many different kind of servos including some specific full size servos, and so far we did not find one which this BEC can not handle!
So make sure to consider the Scorpion Tribunus 06-80 for your next 380-520 size heli, or 50-60″ Aerobatic Airplane which uses Micro or Mini Servos!

Tribunus II ESC specific initialization sequence.
Dear Scorpion Tribunus customers,
When using the new tribunus II ESCs (06-120, 12-80, 12-130) , it has come to our attention that there is a specific initialization sequence which may need to be followed depending on your model setup.
We have noted that if you are using a backup guard system which outputs 5.5volts and you power on the backup guard prior to the ESC, or power on the backup guard directly after plugging in the ESC. The fact that the ESC sees 5.x volts prior to being fully initialized will lock the ESC to this BEC voltage.
Regardless of if you have a higher BEC voltage in your setup.
The solution to prevent this is very simple.
You must simply plug the ESC first and wait a few seconds for the ESC to fully initialize before powering on your backup guard. It is already the standard procedure to power on the ESC prior to the backup guard to insure your ESC/BEC is functioning properly. Just note that you need to let the ESC initialize which take a few seconds before powering on the backup guard.
At this time we are looking for the root cause of this to see if it’s a software or hardware which causes this situation. But until then, please note this simple solution and note that there is not fault or risk to your model. Simply this startup procedure must be followed to insure proper function.
